One Ring Spotlight Cam Plus can hold two Quick Release Battery Packs, while the standard camera package includes one. A two-camera pack describes the number of cameras. It does not, by itself, promise that all four battery positions across those cameras are filled.
The linked US package contains two white Spotlight Cam Plus Battery cameras. This is the 1080p Plus model, not Spotlight Cam Pro or the newer Spotlight Cam 2K. Ring’s product specifications list one battery included per standard camera and capacity for up to two. Check any retailer-added battery bundle separately.

Count cameras, installed packs and charging spares separately
| Your plan | Battery count to plan around | What remains to manage |
|---|---|---|
| Two cameras with one pack each | Two packs, matching the standard one-per-camera specification | Removing the only pack takes that camera out of service while it is without power |
| Fill both positions in each camera | Four packs total; normally two additional packs | Those four are installed, so none is a separate charged spare |
| Keep a rotation spare off-camera | Add a separate compatible pack to the plan you chose | Check its charge before the visit; an empty spare does not shorten charging downtime |
The arithmetic is a purchasing worksheet, not a prediction of runtime. Extra capacity can make battery maintenance less frequent, but it cannot guarantee twice the operating time under different traffic, settings, weather or battery conditions.
If you already own these cameras, another camera kit is not the economical answer to an empty second slot. Verify the compatible Quick Release Battery Pack for your exact model and buy only the accessory you need.
Choose a maintenance routine before choosing a high mounting spot
Imagine a front camera that sees deliveries and a quiet side-yard camera. They may consume charge at different rates. A shared charged spare can be useful for whichever needs attention first, while filling both cameras adds installed capacity. Neither option removes the need to check battery status.
Our recommendation is to start with the access problem: can you safely reach the bottom battery compartment and its security screw? The model-specific charging process involves removing the cover, so a bracket placed tight against an obstruction can make a routine task awkward. Test service access before the final mount is fixed.
Use the Ring app’s Device Health information to check battery level. Do not wait until a planned trip to discover that both the installed pack and spare need charging. After maintenance, check Live View and a saved test event where your account has recording enabled; power returning does not alone confirm that the expected recording was saved.
Charging checks specific to the Plus housing
Ring’s charging guide distinguishes Spotlight Cam Plus and Pro from older Spotlight housings. For Plus, remove the security screw, twist the bottom cover counterclockwise and release the battery using its metal tab. Charge with the appropriate supplied cable until only the green indicator remains, then slide the charged pack in until it clicks. Refit the cover and screw.
The guide allows up to 10 hours for a full charge. Your charging arrangement and battery condition can change the wait, so do not schedule a swap around a promised short charging time. We have not tested transfer between two installed packs and do not promise gap-free footage during a battery change.
Two batteries and Dual Power Mode solve different problems
Dual Power Mode refers to wired and battery power settings on compatible Ring devices. It is not the name for filling both battery slots. With compatible external power and a battery installed, Ring describes an automatic move from Wired Mode to low-power Battery Mode if external power fails or becomes unstable. Settings can change, and Ring says automatic switching works in that direction; Wired Mode can be selected again in the app.
That arrangement needs the appropriate power accessory and installation. A solar panel is another separate purchase whose usefulness depends on sunlight. Do not treat a battery-only two-pack as if a plug-in adapter, solar panel or wired installation kit is included.
Extra batteries also do not improve Wi-Fi coverage, add camera views or create a recording subscription. This Plus model uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. If the mounting point has a weak connection, settle that before buying more battery capacity. For a separate look at continuous recording requirements on another Ring model, see our 1080p Outdoor Cam power and recording guide; eligibility must be checked for each model.
Is this two-camera kit the right purchase?
Consider it when you need two battery-powered camera positions with integrated spotlights and can maintain the packs. Plan the cost of any additional batteries and recording service alongside the cameras.
Reconsider it if difficult access is the main constraint, if you only need a battery accessory, or if the newer model’s features are your actual requirement.
